The 23rd annual Hilltop Super Stars competition came off almost without a hitch in March at the Central YMCA in Wilmington. When the dust cleared, St. Paul’s team came in tied for third place.
Actually, it was a combined St. Paul’s/St. Phillips team because neither team had enough players when the competition began. However, once the multi vehicle accident on north bound I-95 cleared up, we were deluged with team members!
Still, it was not enough to overcome the juggernaut that was Concordia Lutheran Church which finished a top the leader board with Grace Lutheran coming in second. It should be noted that this was the first time in a long time that Concordia took part in Super Stars and we’re all glad that they did!
Perhaps the best part of the competition was the fact that it raised over $10,000 for programming at the Hilltop Center.
Our thanks to the members of the St. Paul’s team: Keith and Cory Bart and Cory’s girl friend, Lindsay McHale; Janet Mease, Jordan Bolduc, Evan Cohn, Rob and Mike Riedel, and Mike’s girl friend, Nicole Newton .
Thanks to the Hilltop Staff who handled event logistics, the board committee that organized the event, and especially all of the team members who showed up to have a good time and raise money to serve the kids at Hilltop.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has a program called Care in Congregations. This program is designed to financially, and otherwise, support fund-raising and hands-on volunteer service activities, planned by Thrivent members, to meet special needs in our Church and its ministries not covered in our regular operating budget.
St. Paul’s allotment is $1,600 for the year 2008.
