Midweek Lenten Worship

Lent 2019 – Let’s go to the Movies!

Movies often have themes and story lines that offer the opportunity for faith discussion.  Two movies, Chocolat and Babette’s Feast, are particularly useful for the season of Lent.  So, let’s go to the movies.

Wednesday evenings beginning March 13 everyone is invited to join in a meal, movie and discussion using these two films. The form of the evening will follow the Dinner Church model so we will begin with the first part of communion and end the evening finishing our communion meal.   We will begin with the movie, Chocolat, so if you have a practice of giving up chocolate for Lent this may be the year to skip that practice.  Babette’s Feast has subtitles, so if you are less comfortable with subtitles, watching the film in advance may be useful.

If you are willing to help with any of the meals – providing soup, bread or salad – please contact Pastor Linda.

The schedule for each evening:

  • 6:30 Meal is served (soup, bread, salad)
  • 6:45 Movie   (no previews of upcoming attractions so schedule accordingly
  • Discussion
  • 8:30 Homeward bound
